Heres an illustration I did for Slam Magazine (issue 170) last month. It was about a guy (Dom Kekich) who had a bobcat push him down the Nirto Circus mega ramp in one of those giant Zorb balls. Only problem was the bobcat punctured the ball and snapped his leg! Poor dude, sounds super painful, hope hes made a full recovery.
I’m just beginning a new stage in my website’s life, namely moving everything across to my blog. As I’m an artist, not a programmer, please forgive any issues that might occur during this phase. I’m hoping everything will be bigger and better than before within the next week or two, and will start to embark on a few new projects I hope you’ll all be interested in.

Despite the thunder and lightning getting thrown around last night, I headed down to The Fort to check out the “Fly on the Wall” show, featuring SOFLES, LISTER, SAIKOE, BLIGS, YUIN HUZ and GLOUCESTER. It was kept to just the front two rooms of the Fort, but there was an amazing amount of quality art there, so much colour everywhere. The paint spilled from one canvas to the next, across the walls and really needs to be seen in person. The show is up til Feb 18 so make sure you check it out!

Just a little update as I’ve been neglecting this blog. I’m currently working on a collaboration with SIZE in the TCB complex in the valley. Keep your eye out for a new range of clothing featuring my creatures in store, in the coming months.
I’ve never really come across a pen that I love to draw with, but I came close with some Faber-Castell PITT pens. My friend Boris put me onto them a couple of years ago and I’ve used them ever since. They’re great when they’re new, but after a few (say 5-10 detailed) drawings, they lose their edge. The fine (S) ones lose their abilty to create a nice line without being held at 90 degrees to the pages (something that really annoys me), and the thickest ones (B) start to soften and become more brush like (which I think they ‘may’ be designed to do). Thankfully you can remove the nib of the thicker ones and rotate it 90 degrees to double their lifetime.
If any other artists out there have discovered any amazing pens (especially if they’re available in Australia), I’d love to hear about them.
Well, what a dissapointing way to start the day. I got up to take the garbage down and thought I might squeeze in an hour of GTAIV before work since I was out of bed so early. I was getting all settled as I turned on my xbox only to be greeted by the red ring of death. While not impressed, I wasn’t shocked. I’ve heard that many stories that I knew it was only a matter of time (though I was secretly hoping I had the only flawless box in existence). I suppose I’d been somewhat lucky (compared to others) as I’ve had it for just over two years (2 years, two weeks and a day) without any major problems, apart from occassional noises from the dvd drive followed by game freezes (nothing a restart doesn’t fix, though I loose any unsaved progress). I’m hoping my memeory of an extended 5 year warranty on 360 hardware failures is correct, guess I’ll find out when I ring EB this morning, wish me luck.
*EDIT* Turns out the extended warranty I bought through EB (in store swap for faulty consoles) expired 15 days ago, so it has to get sent to Microsoft (3 year warranty through them). I’ll give them a buzz now and organise it. Good thing is I’ll have more time to draw now *fingers crossed*.
*EDIT 2* Oh man, its been 11 hours and I’m already missing the option to fly down the streets of liberty city at 200km/hr in a stolen Turismo or Inferno. On the upside, I’ve churned out 3 pages of A4 I probably wouldn’t have otherwise. Keep it locked!
I always love checking out photos of where other artists paint/draw/work, so I thought I’d upload a few photos of where I’m painting at the moment. I’m in a two bedroom unit so I don’t really have room to set up a dedicated studio. The only real space I can paint is in the kitchen. I’ve taken over the kitchen table and chairs and this is where the majority of my painting takes place.
It was such a nice weekend that it was a shame to stay inside when it was so perfect outside. I moved my little easel and paints outside which was great. Lots of natural light, fresh air and it felt a lot more relaxing. It was great fun as it was something different and kept me motivated.
If you’re looking you’ll be able to spot some new paintings I’ve been working on. I haven’t uploaded any of these yet as I’m waiting to set up a tripod and lighting system to get better shots (hopefully within the next week).
About 4 weeks ago I was mucking around with some mates, jumped a balcony and hit the concrete a little hard. I immediately couldn’t walk on my foot, but got told since it didnt swell much or bruise, it wouldn’t have been broken, just sprained. I iced it and kept off it for a few days and while still swollen, I could limp around on it after a week and within 2.5 weeks the swelling had gone down. I noticed that it still hurt and my toes were a little messed up so I headed off to the doctors (should have gone straight away) and had some xrays, revealing I’ve fractured a bone in my foot. Since its gone on so long and started to heal, I’ll need to see a surgeon on monday. Sounds great!
** Update ** – I just got back from the surgeon who said it was in fact broken right through, and the end of the bone has now fused back on, at an angle. I’ve been told to give it 6 weeks, see how it feels by then and go back with a new x-ray. At that stage we’ll decide whether I just live with it, or if they’ll cut the bone, re-align it and pin it. Either way, I can look forward to some arthritis in about 20 years, great!
Well after spending an hour n a half getting ready for my mate’s horror themed friday the 13th birthday party, I’m ready to go. Should be a pretty good night.
