
This Dragon Bust was a lot of fun to create and pushed me outside my comfort zone (stylistically speaking). I used custom alphas and VDMs in ZBrush to create the scales and spikes. The baked maps in Painter did most of the heavy lifting but there was still a lot of manual elements I got to add during the texturing phase (which I thoroughly enjoyed).

Sculpted in ZBrush, retopo in Blender (using Retopoflow), textured in Substance Painter, rendered in Marmoset Toolbag 3, post in Photoshop. 2K material and 10k triangles.



I setup a super basic 3 bone rig (and nudged the eyebrows into shape) in Blender to get some poses done too, which I think worked pretty well.
